God of War III preview
PS3 Previews | admin | March 2, 2010 at 12:06 pmThe year 2010 is set to kick another anticipated game “The God of War 3″. It is the game the die hard gamers have been
looking forward to which will feature the poster boy for carnage, Kratos. The game is the next installment in the God of War series and is expected to be out exclusively for the Playstation 3 game console. It is the fifth and final chapter in the current story chronologically, after God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Betrayal, and God of War II. This doesn’t mean the end of the God of War chapter, so dont feel for it!
Well, so here we start, the gameplay which we all look for in the game. Ah, well God of War 3 is expected to feature somewhat similar gameplay to that of the previous episodes. In this game, the weapons are 4 as confirmed so far. They are the Blades of Athena, the Blade of Olympus, Apollo’s Bow, and the Cestus. Cestus which comes as a new weapon appears to have the ability to smash through solid objects such as rocks and plowing through enemy shields, as well as a slightly smaller range than the extending chains as the Blades of Athena. This game starts up right where God of War II ended with Kratos riding on Gaia ascending Mount Olympus along with the army to take down the gods. This scene is incredible. As Gaia moves, the trees and foliage around you sway appropriately and the ground shifts beneath your feet. In the background, you can see other Titans climbing the mountain, fighting off Olympian forces.
We also see a shift in the game between cinematic views of the bigger picture and your own. A thing to be mentioned is the Flash esque cinematics and there are no cutscenes in this episode. As in the previous screenshot, also in the demo, we see Kratos tearing off the head of the God Helios. In the game his head can be used in a similar fashion to those of Medusa and Euryale as seen in previous episodes. Although where their powers revolved around stone, Helios’s stems from light. Its functions include blinding undead soldiers temporarily, as a lantern in dark areas and to find hidden rooms and passages. Kratos will also get Hermes’s winged boots, which will allow him to run on walls. Also according to sources, Its confirmed that Kratos will fight Stheno, the last living Gorgon queen, although it is unknown whether he will use her head as a weapon after he defeats her. We gotta wait and watch till then!
The developers of the game have stated more weapons shall be introduced and will be more user friendly too than compared to previous episodes. Combos which were in previous titles shall be replaced as new combos. The enemy numbers have been increased up to 50 which is pretty much higher than the previous titles.
About the graphics part, the looks are promising. There are some claims about God of War III’s graphics though. The sense of scale is impressive. Kratos is probably the single best-looking character ever seen in a videogame. While he looks great from afar, when the camera pans in up close and we can see how the idea behind textures.
In the 2 minute demo shown in January this year, we observe Kratos fighting a Leviathan that is attacking Gaia’s arm. During this fight, the camera pans out away from the fight sequence, however, the player is still controlling Kratos while the camera is panning out adding a new level of gameplay to the fight sequences. Overall its a perfect game shot for the year.
The expectations of this title is looking high this year, the game promises to meet the gamer expectations. It has already been the topic of the day to the fans and looks more promising and believes to provide great game experience to gamers out there!
